A VERY SPECIAL GROUP OF PEOPLE WERE GATHERED TOGETHER THIS AFTERNOON, INCLUDING SEVERAL FUTURE LEADERS OF THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES AND THE WORLD AT LARGE. THEY CAME TO CELEBRATE THE LIFE AND WORK OF LEO POLITI FOR THESE PAST 100 YEARS. SINGING "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" IN HONOR OF THE WRITER AND ILLUSTRATOR FOR WHOM THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ON 11th STREET IS NAMED , GUESTS INCLUDED LEO’S  CHILDREN, SON PAUL & HIS SISTER, SUZANNE AND THE BIOGRAPHER OF LEO POLITI’S VIVID LIFE STORY, ANN STALCUP. THE CHILDREN WHO ATTEND CLASSES SANG AND DANCED TO COMMEMORATE ALL OF LEO POLITI’S FAMOUS CHILDREN’S STORIES.  LEMONADE AND CAKE WERE SERVED TO CHRISTOPHER STEIR, BRAD RUMBLE, RICHARD ALONZO AND PROUD PARENTS. THE SPIRIT OF LEO POLITI COULD BE FELT AT THE SCHOOL ON THE GROUNDS THAT BEAR HIS NAME, WATCHING OVER THE PARTY WITH JOY AND A SENSE OF PRIDE AT THESE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THESE VERY SPECIAL CHILDREN AND THEIR TEACHERS. IT IS UP TO ALL OF US TO KEEP THE WORK OF LEO POLITI ALIVE AND VIBRANT IN THE CITY, IN THE SCHOOLS, AND IN EVERY COMMUNITY, CELEBRATING OUR DIVERSITIES BLENDED INTO OUR CITY OF THE ANGELS.
